Latest Addition

Well the wait is over and my newest grandbaby has made her grand entrance into the world and she is a cutie! She has more hair than her siblings had and like the others she held her own at 22 inches and 8lbs 15 ounces. For me she is just too adorable and I can't wait for her to start the cooing and smiling and all that cute stuff that make you want to kiss cheeks and squeeze little butts and things.  Unfortunately she lives 3 hours away, but that's a lot better than 6 states away.  Anyway I wanted to introduce my crafting buddies to Alexandria Jordyn Lynn....so here she is....

I used Webster Pages Western Romance because it had the soft pink colors I was looking for.  I then went through my stash of Wild Orchid flowers to find the perfect pink and white (sweet and delicate petals) to add to the softness.  The bling just seemed natural to add to the layout along with the lace. MS always has a border that will match any project and 3-D stickers can add to any design.  SU banner punch I got from my BFF (thanks Joyce) spells her nickname "Lexi".  She has stolen her Mema's heart already.

Now that I've introduced you to Lexi, I think its time to share other crafts I've created.  It's almost time for me to award my grab bags and I'm excited about that.  I didn't stuff the boxes so even I don't know what went into each box but I have been promised that I will know when its time to announce the winners. I think this is so exciting.

Well I found a Robert Jackson image that I had won on Card-o-ology and hadn't used it so I thought that now that I am part of JDE DT, I really should use it, so that's what I did.  Together with a frying pan and xacto knife I created what I am calling a half arch card.  Yes I said frying pan...you'll understand when you see the card...so go ahead and scroll down.

I think the image is called the date and it can be found at "Fine Arts By Robert Jackson".  I used copic markers together with a couple of prisma color pencils to color the couple. The fence was cut using a TH die. The butterfly and flourish was cut with a Cherry Lynn Design die and the roses are from Wild Orchid (love those flowers). The paper is either Graphic 45 or Bo Bunny...I can't remember which one because I used scraps to create this card.

I tried to carry the same theme to the inside of the card and I was doing really well up to the point where I spilled juice all over my paper turning it a color I care not to describe. So this is what I ended up with. One pocket for your personal message and another pocket to hold a gift card or a little cash. The tag is there just to show that it is a pocket. Before my fiasco I had a cute little envelope pocket ready to be on that side but it got wet so I had to create the normal banded pocket. It was devastating I tell you.  But life goes on right?  This last card was simply because I didn't know what to do with the paper. You know how sometimes you get paper and wonder what in the world because it has images all over it or words or something that at the time appears useless, well Graphic 45 will do that to you and it will take awhile to figure out what to do with it.  Well I got inspired and managed to create this card.

Patience please, I know the photo isn't the best but I was in a hurry to get it done and then just snapped a shot at my work table.  The paper is Graphic 45 and both the image and the words are part of the paper.  In fact the whole 12x12 sheet is images and words...four of them size 4x4 each. I used Spellbinders die to create the corner pieces and the mat for the sentiment. Next I added a button, some ribbon and a bit of lace to finish it off.  Not to bad and it didn't take two days to get it completed.

Well this is all for this post because I am nodding as I sit here typing and the dog is whinning to go out for her final outing.  I will be back to share more with everyone as soon as I can....besides I still have more Mother's Day cards to share....like you don't have your own to make...perhaps I will be able to inspire...that would be good.  So as always...

Hugs To All Moms

Mother's Day is just around the corner and I have been busy trying to create cards for friends, family and co-workers.  Both my mom and only sister has been gone for quite some time, but I still make a card for them (not crazy just sentimental memories) and yes I will go visit with them if I can and chat for a while.  Because of my loss I want to make sure that my family members and friends have a card to give their moms...no more forgetting or last minute cards.  I've been really busy and now I'd like to share a few of my cards with everyone. The first couple of cards were designed to give a friend that is also a mom. They both are simple yet different at the same time.
I created this one the standard A4 size 5x7.  The words I found on a poetry site and now I can't remember the name of the site but I am pretty sure of two things; first the author was listed as unknown and second I'm quite sure the author  wasn't me (wish I could give the appropriate credit).  I used paper from Die Cut With A View (DCWV) and a couple of Recollections flowers. A Martha Stewart border punch, some ribbon and a 3-D butterfly finishes this card. I continued the theme to the inside but failed to take a picture (sorry) :( sobbing.

The second card I designed for a friend used the same verse but was created as a 6x6 square card, that worked well with the layout of the paper I chose.

Bo Bunny 6x6 paper pad and Bazzil Black Cardstock set the stage for this card.  The paper was so perfect that all I had to do was add the words and just a touch of love for it to be complete. Not shown is the sparkle I added to the light in the upper right corner.  Personally, I think this card could be considered a CAS style card.

The inside uses leftover scraps of trimmed paper along with the reverse side of the same paper used for the front. The addition of a few words and a rose finishes the inside with the same layout design and color scheme. Later, after I took the picture I went back (always an after-thought) and added some diamond glaze to the rose for a shiny effect.

Well now you've seen two of my 10 different Mother's Day cards (Mom, Daughter, Daughter-in-Law, Sister, Grandma, and Friend) and I hope you've enjoyed them.  I am now off to get myself some pampering for the next 2-4 hours...you know we seniors enjoy getting ourselves beautified (not really a word) as well.  This is one appointment I really look forward to...you know the ones where someone manages your hair, preps your hand and nails, scrubs your feet and toes, massages your face, neck and best of all your aching body!!!  I truly love these appointments!!  Hopefully, I'll be back tomorrow to post more pictures for you but until then.....

Sneak Peek

Hi Everyone! I tell you this new blogger is hard as the dickens to figure out. The way I've been clicking I sound like a hen pecking seed out in the pen. I haven't posted because I didn't know how, then of all things I created a new blog to test the new blogger thinking it wouldn't affect my old blog (mainly because my BFF said so) but guess what it did make changes and that really frustrated me. But what's done is done and I must move forward right?  But let me just say, that I am not real impressed with this new interface that Blogger has and I wish folks would leave things alone until they break...you know if it ain't broke don't fix it.

This weekend my son visited me with my newest grandbaby; "Alexandria Jorydan Lynn" to meet her Mema. She is a real cutie, weighing in at 8.15 and 3 weeks early at that.  She got lots of kisses, hugs and rocks out of her Mema and I'm sure she will get many more in the future.

I've been creating cards trying to get them ready for Mother's Day which is really just around the corner.  I figured out how to do a technique that I am so proud of and can't wait to share it and then I've been playing with folding paper different ways to see what happens (some good, some not so much).  This is going to be a short post but before I call it a night, I want to say thanks to all of you that follow me faithfully. And I hope you follow my blog for more than just free stuff (well I did say hope) heh heh, because you never know when I will do something crazy.

If you are participating in my grab bag candy, please remember that you hav to leave a comment and be a follower.  Two challenges past an individual did not win simply because they did not follow all the rules (leaving a comment) and the challenge before that the individual that actually won was not a follower, and each case a second person was chosen. My grand-daughters do the choosing and they are not easy to forgive.  So please remember to follow the rules and if you do win please put my little badge on your blog so others can see and hopefully join us, or mention your winnings in your post.

My "Somebunny Loves You" Grab Bag Sneak Peek is below.  If you want it to be a surprise then STOP! DO NOT READ FURTHER! For the rest of you let me just say the name "Tim Holtz" can be found in Grab Bag Number 1 and I think the name "Magnolia" has a ring to it in Grab Bag Number 2.  Well that's your sneak peek.  Next month we'll play the Bingo Game to celebrate Mother's Day....but thats next month so until then remember...."find beauty in all things and then create your own"

Now for a peek at my most recent creation.

DON'T STRESS - DISTRESS

This card was inspired while waiting in a doctor's office. I saw a magazine that was dedicated to vintage vehicles, which led me to surf the net for a digital image which I never found but I did discover another card that had vintage images and I got excited. I looked at the techniques and elements of this card and when I got home I created this card adding my own personal touches here and there. I wish I could remember the artist name but I can't and now that I am looking for it I can find it anywhere. But I do thank that person for the inspiration and would like to give credit where credit is due.

Supplies Used: Graphic 45 DP; Bazzil CS; Distressed the edges and inked them with TH Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo; Sentiment from the $1 bin at Michaels.

A peek inside where there is space for a personal message.
Well that's all for today...it's been a long hard one.  If you haven't entered your name for the GRAB BAG, make sure you do so before you leave.

In the meantime remember....."find beauty in all things and then go create your own."

-----------------------------------------------
Here are a couple of cards I created using Robert Jackson's images and no the layout isn't mine...I followed the same Sketch for both cards.

The first image is titled "Lil Cowgirl".  If you like her look in the 'Lil Folks' collection.  I colored her with copics and used Graphic 45 paper along with a Tim Holtz die to give her a Texan look and feel.
Compare my take with the Sketch that is shown below with my  Second card. The image I selected for my second card is "Phoebe Fishing." This image is located in the collection called "Phoebe's Journey." I replaced one of the bands on the Sketch with the sentiment "Wish You Were Here." Doesn't she look as if she is missing her best friend.

Can you tell what my letter is....if you guessed "S" you are correct. Add this letter to your collection of other letters and hop along for the rest.

Just think one of these images could be yours if you're lucky in the draw.  So don't forget to leave a comment.

With all the excitement over the launch I almost forgot to share some other projects I've been working on.  Let me start with a card I created in honor of my name.  Actually that's the challenge currently going on at The Outlawz Greeting Card Monday challenge. Well my name is Lesia so 'L' is the letter of interest for this card.  I hope you like it.

It took me forever (seemed that way to me) to come up with this design, mainly because I had just gotten a new stamp and I wanted to use it but couldn't make it work, so I ended up rethinking my card, but with it being Easter I think this card blended right in!

You know I hate to waste paper so I started decorating my inside.  With this card I really only had scraps to work with but I figured I met the minimum requirements.  By the way not shown on this photo is the embossed praying hands I added to the top flap after taking the picture. So now it actually looks better than what is shown.
Don't forget about my blog candy that is going on....scroll down and make sure you enter and for even more chances at some really great prizes come back tomorrow and join in the ROBERT JACKSON LAUNCH AND BLOG HOP!
