One 4 Christmas

Today I am going to share another Christmas card with everyone.  I am on a roll it seems and this time its not white-on-white (very hard not to do for me) yeah!!!!

Why am I excited, you ask.  Well it seems that for Christmas all I want to create are white-on-white cards, which there is nothing wrong with that but surely I can do some colorful ones.  So I have been making a conscientious effort to make a non-white card for every two white cards that I make and so far its been working.  Here is my latest one.

Still mainly one color but for this particular card it just went well with one color.  I used the following items:

Embossing folder
Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page
K&Company chipboard and Stickers
Recollection Bling
Spellbinders Nestibilities
Recollection Cardstock

The inside has a pocket perfect for holding a gift card or a bit of cash for the lucky recipient.

To be able to enter this card in one particular challenge  I could not include certain elements.  So this card has "no purple, no glitter, no twine, no orange and no pumpkins"  Wasn't hard to do since it is a Christmas card.

I want to enter this card in the following challenges:

One Stitch At A Time Challenge #137 - Make 1 For Christmas

Fab 'n' Funky Challenges #145 - Die Cuts and Punches

Digi Stamps 4 Joy #54 - Bingo With A Difference

Anything Goes Challenge Blog - Challenge #79

Tammy's Scrapin Corner - Anything Goes with Any Artist

I'll end here with something for you to think about before you enter my challenges.

"Don't waste time trying to change what already is, spend that time creating something new and innovative, that will show that what already is, to be obsolete"

I'm Late! I'm Late!

Hello my lovelies...I know I am late blogging and announcing the winner of the second part of my Challenge Trio "Those Bloomin' Flowers" so I will not delay and get right to it....can I get a drumroll please.....with the help of Random.org our winner is...

Entry #9 which is Susan
Congratulations Susan!

Please contact Mema at lesia1707@att.net to claim your prize before Monday, October 22nd.

Well that's all that I have for tonight but I hope to be back tomorrow with perhaps a card or two to share with everyone. I do have one to share that I hope you will like.

I created this card following a technique I watched on youtube.  The technique is called Triple Time Stampin Technique.

Real easy once you do it although when you first see it you think to yourself..."how'd she do that" well, let me show you what it looks like and then share with you how you do it.

Sound good? Well let's get started!

Okay so now that you've seen what it looks like from my point of view let me share with you just how it is done.

So now that you've seen it, go and give it a try.  What do you think about this technique.  Leave me a comment and let me know.

Almost Forgot:  There is still time to enter the "Animals Gone Wild" challenge 3 of the October Trio challenge.

Card Trio

Today was a lovely day...nice cool weather...just lovely I tell you.  I couldn't enjoy it though since I was without my vehicle, however I did get to work from home and not use any casual or vacation time.  Having a flexible supervisor that trusts you is so valuable when you find yourself in certain situations. But once work was finished I was able to relax and give my troubles to my Father...I have a storage box that belongs to God, and inside I store all my troubles knowing that he will take care of them.  Once I put them in the box, I leave it alone and wait for the solution to reveal itself to me.

So here is what I have to share and I have a few things..so are you ready? Ok then.
This card is based on a tutorial I found on Marianne's Papirverden blog.  There were so many steps but it turned out okay.  Click on the image for a better view.

Upper left
: The card completely closed with a belly band

Upper Right: The card laying down and the belly band removed.

Bottom Left: The card standing open, belly band removed

Here the card is lying down and pulled open to reveal my image.

The image is actually adhered to a flap that hides your sentiment and space for a personal message or pocket for a gift card or tea bag.

This is shown in the bottom photo. Click for a larger view of these two photos.

I created this card using burgundy and brown tone papers.  My favorite colors are the earthy tones.  I added flowers and since I didn't have actual lace I used a Martha Stewart border punch to create an illusion of lace around the card. Stamped images are Hero Arts.

Instructions on how to create this card is on my PC somewhere and if I can find it I will add it to my tutorial list.

I want to enter this card in the following challenges: 365 Cards Day 229 - Favorite Things and also Fab N Funky Challenge #142 - Vintage

*********************************************************************
Card Supplies:
Image: Bugaboo
Sentiment: Computer Generated
Martha Stewart Border Punch
Decorative Buttons (spider and web)
DP: DCWV
Colored with Copics

I had gotten this image for a challenge at JDE and then lost it until now.
I want to enter this card in the challenge at Craft Your Passion - Challenge #132 "Which Witch Is Which" and the challenge going on at AUD Sentiments Challenge #65 - "Halloween"

        ***********************************************************************
My last project is not a card but a page layout. I don't do these that often but every now and then I will break down and create a page or I get a photo that I just don't want to hide in a box or container somewhere.

I used Webster's Designer Paper and Bazzil Cardstock.  I had to bring out the Cricut to get the iron fence. I added the butterflies and flowers and used ribbon to try and draw attention to the words that I think totally describe my oldest grand-daughter.

In this photo she was in the backseat of the car appearing to be deep in thought as she stared out the window. Of course I used one of Martha's punch around the page and some pearls that were white before they met my copic markers.

If this qualifies I want to enter it in A Gem of A Challenge #57 - Flowers
***********************************************************************

Well finally, I'm finished with this post and I think I'll clean up my craftroom and call it a good day and a great evening.

White On White

Today went okay, at least better than previous days (knock on wood).  I got the chance to relax for a bit and just lounge around the house. The weather was a bit windy but cool and rather nice I must say.  I kept thinking it was going to rain but it never did...just a cool breeze offering me a chance to enjoy the coolness and the quietness of the day.  All I could think of were the words "peace be still" and it was such a calmness that came over me.

I was free of worry and just thought to myself, life is life and what happens can neither be controlled, predicted nor planned without a certain amount of uncertainty...so why stress over that which we cannot change...just look toward the heavens and proceed to follow the footsteps of accomplishment and then allow yourself to be still and know that all things will resolve themselves one way or another.

Having said that, here is my card for today.  And guess what this is really going to be a short post...believe it or not. (no this isn't Ripley's)

I'm not sure why but the card is showing up with a tint of blue and there is no blue anywhere on this card.  I've taken the picture 3 times and I keep getting the blue hue.  Trust me it is a pure white on white card.

I used plain white cardstock, Sizzix embossing folders and Spellbinders dies to create this card. The card base is 6 x 6 and I embossed and matted a 5.75 x 5.75 on top of the card base.  Next I used the Circle and the Lacy Circle nestabilities for the sentiment on the card.

The sentiment was created on my computer and then printed onto the Circle.  I used pop-dots to adhere the lacy circle to the card.  I used Spellbinders Lace Doiley Accents to cut the lace border and then added Offray ribbon, Recollections Pearls and a Stick Pin from Wild Orchid.  (thinking perhaps a white rose would add something um..)

For the inside I decided just to use embossing folders.  I used an oval embossing folder on a separate piece of paper to create the space for a personal message.

On the left I followed the dot embossing I used on the front and added the dots directly to the card base. To separate the dots from the base I added a small strip of ribbon.

Sorry for the poorly lit photos but I couldn't figure out why the tint was showing up.
What do you think...can you see what I did?

I hope to enter this card in the following challenges:

The Drama Continues

This has been a painful month for me so far.  One headache after another, but I will not let it get me down.  If you've been following my blog you know the time I have been having, well believe it or not today my AC unit stopped working just when the temperatures went back up, my dog got sick and had to have an emergency visit which led me to discover that there was something definitely wrong with my car's fuel pump.

What else could possibly happen, well I'll tell you...the hot tub lost yet another jet, and the worst thing of all is I ran out of adhesive!!! A crafter with no adhesive...what next I scream..."inhale, exhale, release"...I will not give up..."inhale, exhale, release"

Just think I whisper to myself, the weekend is finally here and it starts today for me, yeah for "Off Fridays"...."inhale, exhale, release"...Today I am going to relax and craft and eat all kinds of food regardless to the number of calories or points its gonna cost me.  Bring it on I say and leave me to craft away in my studio, just me and the dog..."inhale, exhale, release" aaah the peace, just me and the dog.

Let me first announce the winner of October's Challenge 1- "Scene It"
This challenge is sponsored by Jackson's Digital Expressions therefore the minimum requirement of 10 entries was waived and we are free to award one lucky winner
5 digi images of their choice.
Our luck winner is entry #1 - Carol Gill
(please email Pamela Harris [cmalkah@yahoo.com] to claim your prize)

Now let share with you the fun I've been having in my studio.  By the way the AC guy showed up and there is now nice cool airing flowing in my house.  That calls for a real big Texan style yahooooooo!

This time I created a Steampunk card just in time to enter it in at least two challenges: Digital Tuesday and Lady Anne's

The paper is from my DCWV photo mat paper stack "Tattered Time."  I used a digital print freebie and printed it directly on my cardstock using my printer.  I then inked all the edges with Vintage Photo.

The sentiment is also a digital sentiment that I printed and then cut out to use on my card.  I used Tim Holtz Gears die to cut out and emboss the gears.  I then added metal gears from Tim Holtz's ideaology collection to make the card a bit more masculine.  I'm going to give this card to my x-husband whom is now my best friend.

The inside of my card is quite simple. I dry embossed the left side and the sponged a bit of vintage photo on the raised areas.  I used left over paper to create the ruler border. I also used Tim Holtz "Gears" die to cut borders for the personal writing space and for the left side to bring it all together with the front of the card.
I am planning to enter this card in:

Remember to check back every week to see if you're a winner in Mema's October Challenge Trio.  There more prizes to be won and don't forget to sign in when you visit and leave a comment!

Fall and Halloween Challenges

Warning: This is a long post and may not be suitable for those with no funny bone!
For Current Monthly Challenges Click Here

Hey Y'all its Fall!  Are you laughing yet, no, well just keep reading.  After my last post...remember, I made it home from work, created a card and called it a night..right???  Well just before I went to bed the lights kept flickering on and off until finally it stopped so I thought it was over and that most likely the flickering had something to do with the many accidents we had that morning. Anyway I decided to set my dishwasher to do its magic while I slept and then I could put up clean dishes in the morning,..but right in the middle of shutting the door so the cycle program would set the lights went off again...dangnabit! I decided to just push the door ever so gently closed but not click it and that way the cycle wouldn't engage and I could finish in the morning.  Everything was ready so what the heck?  With my plan in place off to bed I went.

Throughout the night I kept hearing the sound of rain or at least I thought it rain because we did have a 40% chance of getting rain, but I soon discovered that in reality the electricity had returned at some point while I slept and the program cycle for my dishwasher had kicked in and yep, there it was in my kitchen...the beginning of the Atlantic Ocean!  There was water everywhere!  I could hear the splish spash from my Yorkie's feet and I thought to myself, she's gonna need a bath.  At first I thought to curse my bad luck but instead, I took a deep breath, called the devil a liar (wonder if he heard me), then notified my boss of the situation and got the OK to work from home. I shut down the dishwasher and put in the dreaded call to Sears because since the door wasn't shut I thought the darn thing had a programming problem or had sprung a leak. He arrived and explained to me that although I had not clicked the door when I pushed it ever so gently closed, I had still closed it enough to engage the program cycle switch so when my electricity returned the dishwasher did what I had programmed it to do. At least it wasn't broke right???, couldn't say the same about me.  The service guy charged me and left me standing in a puddle of water, pissed off, and broke.

My day ended with me working from home and cleaning a puddle of water.  It was okay though.  I'd work for 4 hours and then do housework for 2 hours and then back to work for a couple of hours and then craft for a bit and then finally I finished my work and called it a day.

Now for what I have to share is a sneak peek at a card I created as a DT for Jackson's Digital Expressions challenge blog coming up on Tuesday, October 9th. It's a sketch challenge with the theme "Halloween" so make sure you mark your calendars and join in on the challenge.

Before I share my card with you I thought I would show you the sketch we were to use for our creation.

I don't know about you, but for me this sketch appeared a bit spooky to me and it screams Halloween.
And now here is my card that is based on the sketch.
After creating the design I cut out my paper pieces and inked the edges using "Black Soot" distress inks. The rest of the card was created using the following elements:
CS: Bazzill
DP: Authentique
Image: Bugaboo Digital Images (I cut out and used distressed inks to give it that orangey yellow look and then went over the edges with Black Soot).  The fence is a Martha Stewart border punch and the lamp posts were stamped (6 times) and embossed using UTEE and then cut out and used as a chipboard piece. The sentiment is a 3D sticker from K&Company.
This is the inside of my card. Here I used the leftover piece of the fence and the extra lamp post to keep the look and feel from the front.  I also created a soft moon as the space for a personal message using a Spellbinders Circle die. I really like how it all turned out and I hope you do as well.

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

Party Time Tuesday- PTT#88 Frightfully Scary
Tammy's Scrappin Corner - Challenge #30 "Fall Colors"
Simply Create - Linky Party #5
Shelly's Images- Tic Tac Toe
No Matter Which Challenges - Halloween Creations
Lady Anne's Challenge - Sentiment challenge;Theme Halloween; Two Dies
Craft Your Passion - Hip To Be Square

Thanks for stopping by: "Have a great day and an even better tomorrow"

Excitement Overload

This week has been moving rather slow for me but beginning with last night through today I have had enough excitement to last through the rest of the year.  First yesterday I awaken and prepare for work as always only to hear the crashing sound of metal as I lifted my garage with the intent to leave my home.  There was a fender bender, and it just happened right in front of my driveway blocking my exit.  I attempted to get the owners to move their vehicles so I could leave.  They were so angry at each other I think they forgot English, because as the guy backed up, he proceeded to hit a parked vehicle..wow. I was stunned but continued to back out and head for work noticing my neighbor was looking at his car with his arms flying all in the air.

So now I'm on my way to the intersection which is less than a block away, and I kid you NOT, there was yet another accident.  So there I sat waiting for the cars in front of me to realize that they needed to maneuver around the accident...don't folks think these days?  Is thinking against the law? Finally after what seemed to be forever an officer appeared and began to direct traffic around.  Well now I really needed to hurry if I planned on getting to work so I decide to take the interstate.....WHY DID I DO THAT????

Traffic wasn't moving at all due once again to another accident so up on the ramp above the non-moving traffic I could see for miles around and no one was going anywhere fast.  I turned on the radio to find out that the problem was..yep...an accident!  Anyway it took 20 minutes to go one mile but that gave me an opportunity to make my own path down the embankment...like others were doing.  Well finally I am about 5 minutes from my office and all is well....well not really because my fuel light began to beep indicating I needed to get gas.  I felt like crying at that point but I made it to the station just in time because my car turned off inches from the pump.

So that was my day...oh I got the gas and did make it to work an hour late and dared anyone to ask me where I had been...all I wanted to do was make it to my meeting on time.  This wasn't the end of my excitement but I'll finish my story later because I want to post a couple of cards for challenges.

I created a few cards last night and a couple tonight although I suffered through excitement after excitement.  I'll tell you about the flickering lights and the dishwasher from hell later...because at the moment I just want to get at least started on entering my cards in a few challenges.

I want to enter this card in the: DS4J: DT Project Challenge #52-You're Tagged:  The Challenges 4 Everybody - Anything GoesVintage Elusions-Autum Colors Anything Goes

For this card I used Bo Bunny Ec'Cetera Designer Paper, Maya Road Chipboard Shapes and Offray Ribbon.

I inked my edges using Distress Inks and then added stitching around the pieces. I inked the tag and then stamped an Hero Arts image using Saddle Brown Stazon.

The image is from Tickled Pink and she is colored with Copic markers.  Lastly I tied so bakers twine around the bottom.
I decorated the inside to match the front but was in to much of a hurry to post a photo. Hope you like this card and I will add the others later.  I think I have had enough of excitement and it's time to set the alarm clock and shut these eyes of mine.

Thanks for stopping by, I'm always pleased to hear from you.

Note: A minimum of 10 entries is required for a prize to be awarded

Here is a sample card to get you started:
This scene was already created thanks to Robert Jackson of "Fine Arts By Robert Jackson".  Both my DP and CS is DCWV.  I added a little bit of embossing as an element and used a MS border punch at the bottom.

Using Robert's silhoutee made this card a cinch to make.  On the inside I kept the color scheme  carried the border design over making sure I added a space for a personal  message.

This card is one of my Christmas designs to add to my usual card kits.  I used the Aspen Snowflake to punch around the mat and then used a Spellbinders Die label 8 to create the frame. Using a "thing-a-magig" I positioned the trees to fall in line with the frame.  The horse and buggy was cut using my Cricut Cartridge called "Heritage" ( I love that cartridge).  I'm not sure that you can see the glistening of the snow and tree limbs, but its there thanks to good ole Stickles.

The trees flow over to the inside and I used the cutout from the front window as the area for a personal message.  Adding the MS border undet the trees finished off my card. (didn't add stickles inside).

This lovely card was created by Joyce using Spellbinders to create the window and a digi stamp with faux grass and sky technique (which you can find under my tutorials tab) to create a simple yet beautiful scene.

Hopefully, I have inspired you to participate in this challenge.  Remember we have three challenges going on so join in all three.  I can't wait to see your creations!

Challenge 2 - Those Bloomin' Flowers.

This is a fun challenge.  Gather your flowers and think of all the colors of nature.  Have fun with this one.  Your flowers may be digital or they may be made from mulberry paper, it's all up to you. You can use any image but don't forget the flowers....and it doesn't have to be a card.

You have until midnight October 18th to enter your creation.
Saturated Canary is offering two digital images to the winner of this challenge.  The winner will be drawn on October 19th.

Here are sample cards to get you started:

I'm sure we all can recognize this darlin' image.  It's another beauty created by Krista of "Saturated Canary."

She was colored using Copics:
Reds: R30
Greys: C3, C1
Blues:  B93, B91, BG70
Browns: E25, E23, E50, E11, E13, E00, E000, E43, E42, E41, E40

I used Kraft Cardstock and Authentique Designer Paper.  The flowers are 25mm Wild Curly Roses from Wild Orchid and I used a Spellbinders die to cut the corners.

I haven't finished the inside because I ran out of scraps so trying to get a flow is a bit harder than usual.  This next card is another one created with a Saturated Canary Image and she is just adorable.

Thanks to Joyce of My Enchanted Paper Creations for designing this for me.  Joyce is a talented designer and currently designs for Jackson's Digital Expressions.  She also has a youtube channel (MECP2012) where you can find valuable tutorials or just click on my tutorial tab above and you can find a list of her tutorials.
My next card I really like because I am a lover of hats.

I saw a technique on Youtube on using a standard border punch and making it work as a punch around the page.  It was pretty cool and easy to follow. I have forgotten where I got the image but I ended up with four of them.

The flowers are once again from Wild Orchid and the pearls are Recollection. My designer paper is Websters and the cardstock is Bazzill.  I used Spellbinders to cut the Lacy Circle and the Teardrop circle.

For the inside I tried the technique again using white cardstock to create a space for a personal messge, and then on the right I printed the verse directly onto the DP.

I would like to enter this card in "The Crafty Pad" Challenge #190 - Floral.

As always thanks for stopping by and remember "find beauty in all things and then go create your own."  Then go ahead and enter your creation in this challenge using Mr. Linky shown below (smiles).  Can't wait to see what you guys create:

Challenge 3 - Animals Gone Wild

If you're here then you're ready to showcase those creatures big and small.  From dogs to cats and everything in-between we want to see those little cuties or those strong wow types.  Any animal is welcomed in this challenge so get your mojo going and let's hear some noise...well we will pretend we can hear the animals calling us.

You have until midnight October 25th to enter your creation. A winner will be selected by random draw and will win 5 Bugaboo digital images.
The winner for this challenge will be drawn on October 26th.

Check out these sample cards for inspiration:

This was an inspired card that I created mainly for the words.  The cage and bird was cut using a Tim Holtz die, embossed using UTE and popped up on the card.

I used a Martha Stewart punch to cut out the branches and added a few pearls to finish it off.  The words were printed directly to the cardstock using my printer.

For the inside I used the same paper and found a birdcage stamp to place in the upper right corner.  I created a pocket on the left side with an insert for a personal message.  I thought the paper was much to pretty to hide (lol).

This was a real fun card with fun colors.  The image is from Bugaboo Stamps, one of our sponsors this month.  I used both prismacolor pencils with gamsol and copics to color this stamp.  The chocolate punch is an EK Success and the red punch is Martha Stewart.  The designer paper is DCWV and the cardstock is Recollections.

The inside of the card is nothing special but as usual I did my best with the leftover scraps. Maybe I'll add more later after a good night's sleep.

Well folks, I hope these two cards has given you ideas and encouraged you to participate in our "Animals Gone Wild" challenge.

I would like to introduce and welcome one of our new sponsors.  You all will recognize this sponsor so let's give a great big YAHOO to "Bugaboo Stamps".
Everything That You Ever Wanted to Know About Bugaboo Stamps: A Short Essay

As if raising five children in the frozen land of the North was not enough of a challenge, Jodie Mackrell decided to dip her cold little Canadian toes into the world of papercrafting by opening an online store full of her illustrations. That was two years ago.
Today Bugaboo Stamps is one of the leading companies in digital images, and we're still growing!  From seriously snarky to sugary sweet to sublimely soulful all the way over to the other side of the super sexy spectrum, you're bound to find all that you need and more to create your paper projects.  Jodie works very hard to provide New Releases and Freebies every week!

If your taste runs to rubber (and you know who you are), you can find Bugaboo Stamps  at Totally Stampalicious. And finally, join the Bugaboo Stamps DT   for weekly challenges at Catch the Bug

Bugaboo is offering our winner 7 digi stamps! So get those entries going and remember if you use a Bugaboo stamp you get counted twice.  Just place a # after your name so we will know you used a sponsor's image.

One of our very special sponsors is back and offering 2 of her darling images to one lucky winner.  So let's welcome back Krista of "Saturated Canary."  That's right ladies you could win these darlin images just for joining the party, how easy can that be.  So start creating and having fun!  It is a party after all.

We also have another first time sponsor.  Let's welcome Robert Jackson the artist behind "Fine Arts By Robert Jackson" whom has graciously offered to sponsor Mema's Crafts in celebration of our one year anniversary.

If you haven't seen his art visit his gallery of graphite drawings, paintings and more soon.  Robert not only creates fine arts he is also a talented digital creator and as one of his designers I am pleased to have him as one of my sponsors.

Big thanks to Jackson's Digital Expressions for offering 5 of his digital images to one lucky winner!

Since my first blog challenge launch I have had several faithful followers, and I would like to say thanks to all of you.  I wish I could award each of you but unfortunately that is not possible, however there is one individual that has commented on every post since becoming a follower and sometimes it seems that she comments before I can finish my post (figure that one out).

So I want to acknowledge and say thank you to Maxine D. for her commenting faithfully on my post. Email me to claim your prize of:
  • Electronic Gift Certificate to the following shops:
    • Whimsy Stamps
    • I Brake For Stamps

Additionally, I also wanted to see who logged into my site the mostest (is that a word?) I added the Top Member gadget in July and since that time Edie Warren has registered 112 times.
Thank you Edie for taking time to visit and log into my blog.  It gives me pleasure to present you with my "Frequent Visitor's Award" (I just made that up ha ha ha) which consists of the following:
  • Basic Grey Little Black Dress Card Kit:  This collection includes all the patterned cards, precision die cuts, rub-ons, self adhesive printed chipboard and envelopes you need to create 12 greeting cards. Four each of three designs with step-by-step instructions.
  • Basic Grey Nordic Holiday Collection Card Kit: This kit has everything you need to make 12 enchanting greeting cards including the chipboard stickers, die cut papers, rub-ons and envelopes.
(email me  at lesia1707@att.net your postal address to claim your prize)

At the end of the year I will reset my Top Follower/Member gadget and start anew, so remember when you visit, log in and get counted.
Well that's enough chatter...it's time to start creating and I can't wait to see what you come with.

As always thanks for stopping by and remember.....
