Vintage and Shabby

Hi everyone! Our Every Saturday A Winner challenge is off to a rather slow start but it did increase the chances of winning for one lucky winner, so once she checks the winner channel I'm sure she'll appreciate the small number of entries for the first Saturday winner.  She won a $10 gift certificate to "Make it Crafty" digital store.

As for me, well I have two cards I would like to share with you.  I call them my blue and pink girls...not sure why...I just saw them as blue and pink.  Anyway I hope you like them.

I just love this image and I have used it over and over on several vintage cards.  This type of card is perfect for for mother's day or a birthday card for a mature lady.  I see it as a very versatile card.

This card was based on a sketch and at the time I didn't feel like coloring an image so I opted to use a vintage photo.

Image: Internet Vintage Photos; CS: Bazzil; DP: Pion Designs; Wild Orchid Flowers, Spellbinders Decorative Oval and Scalloped Oval, Zva Pearls; Other embellishments from my stash.

Entering this card in the following challenges:

Sister Act Card Challenge #47 - Anything Goes (3/12)
Challenges and Candies #29 - Flowers (3/19)
My Creative Moments - WordPlay Saturday "Anything" (4/11)
Sunflower Field Designs - Birthday or/and Flowers (3/31)
Just for Fun Challenge - Anything Goes (3/27)
Treasured Times Challenge #13 - Anything Goes with Layering (3/14)

I found this image on Etsy after seeing it used on another card and just had to have it.  It took me a while to find it but I did!

She is so regal and elegant in her pink satin dress and hat.  I didn't want to add a lot of embellishments because the focal point should be the image.

Image: Purchased from an Etsy site; DP: Glitz; CS: Kraft and Cream; Inks: Walnut Stain; Spellbinders Decorative Oval, Prima Flowers and Pearls, Offray Lace and Computer generated greeting.

Challenges and Candies #29 - Flowers (3/19)
Treasured Times Challenge #13 - Anything Goes with Layering (3/14)

Every Saturday A Winner!

Have you heard the news? Next month (March) we're going to give away a prize every Saturday...yahoo...its going to be fun but there is one catch.  The number of entries will be limited so make sure you get yours in before the cut-off (you can enter 3 times).

This week I've been practicing coloring with different markers (Copics, Spectrum Noir and now  Promarkers) to determine the pros and cons of each set.  So far I like them all although I am best with the Copics because I've had them longer.  One thing I have learned is that you have to stay in practice with your coloring or you will forget the simple rules when try to color using any of them.

Oh well I will share a couple of cards I created for my sketch challenge.  For those of you that plan to enter my challenge, I'm sorry but you'll see them again but for those that are just visiting I hope these will inspire you to play with us, so here you go.

My first card uses one of my sponsors image and she is colored using Spectrum Noir.  The pens I used were TN1, TN2, IB1, IB2, IG1, TN4 and TN5.  The photo doesn't show it but the fur around her coat and hood was covered with crystal effects (a Stampin Up product).  The flowers are Prima which I purchased from 7Kids College Fund.  I really liked how this card turned out with the Spectrum Noir.  I decorated the inside to follow the front of this card minus the tab and the flowers.  I think matching the inside to the outside just adds a little bit of flair and now on the back I am creating a little design to add my signature stamp, especially if the card base is dark.

Guess I was into the Spectrum Noir pens because I just kept on using them.  But while making this card I was in a bit of a hurry and didn't write which ones I used so now I will be guessing but most likely I will be close.  Ummm let's see they were: TB1, TB2, TB3, TB4, EB3, EB4, EB5, IG2, IG3, IG4, GB4, GB5, LG1, LG2, LG3, LG4.  I think that's all of them and I did use my black pen here and there to highlight the lines on the mailboxes.  I decorated the inside as well but didn't take a photo, but for the mailboxes the inside is identical minus the twine.

Like I said these are also posted on my challenge site and I hope they have inspired you to join the challenge...4 chances to win and you've got a whole week before the first name is selected.

Guess I should go see who the final February Challenge winner is....I like this part...its exciting to see who the Random Generator will select.  Okie Dokie kiddos...that's it for tonight.  See ya next month!

Thanks for stopping by and come again real soon

French Country Tag

I can't seem to get enough of the Graphic 45 French Country Collection and I tell you I feel as if I need to buy more before they discontinue it the way they did with A Ladies Diary which left me with my mouth hanging open and my brain was a ball of confusion...totally devastated me.  Well I will not suffer that pain and disbelief again.

I plan to use so much French Country that I get sick of it and with three more packs to go its gonna take a while, so I decided that tonight I would do one of their wonderful project sheets.  This one is a tag offered by Robin Shakoor.  It was really easy to create and didn't take to much time either.

I was glad it was quick because in four days I will need to post my next challenge and announce our final February Challenge winner.  Next month every Friday is a winner so get ready...its a sketch challenge and I'll give you a sneak peek to get you started but before I do let me share my tag with you.

Here is the front of the tag.  It has a little pocket and was created using scraps and one actual sheet from the 8x8 paper pad.  I didn't need to use any of the pages in the 12x12 paper pack so there is lots more projects to be made.  Maybe my next project will be either a mini, or another printer tray.  Who knows what I'll end up doing....leave it up to YouTube.

Although the project sheet doesn't include decorating the reverse side, it felt incomplete so I decided to decorate the back with a sentiment.
I added more scraps and then used one of the cut out pages to stamp my message.  I'm not sure if you can read it or not but here is what it says:

life may not
always be
the party we
hoped for,
but while we're here
we might as well
dance!

If you'd like to try creating this little tag for yourself, click the link below and keep your fingers crossed.  It should take you right to the tutorial.

Well this is pretty much all I have to share with everyone.  Remember next month there will be four winners and below is the sneak peek I promised.

My Girls

Hello everyone.  Well my Valentine's Day weekend was absolutely gorgeous!  Even the weather decided to play nice with reasonable temperatures and lots of sunshine.  But of course all good things must come to an end and we return to the daily grind.

One of my grand-daughters spent the weekend with me which meant she was treated to a day at the Spa getting pampered from head to toe.  On what a relaxing weekend and I had time to craft a little so I created a couple of layouts for my album.

The first is of my next to the oldest GD (I have 4 girls).  She  is into Soccer and loves music.  She was blessed with a lovely voice as well as a talent to play most instruments.

I used Kaisercraft DP and Bazzil CS to start my layout. I cut out a honeycomb and then cut pieces for the corners.

The word Music is a chipboard piece that I painted using acrylic paint and then added white dots to make it stand out.

The flowers are Prima and Recollections and the lace I found in my basket of lace and ribbon.  Lastly I added some ink, tore out a couple of triangles, added a little paper, and a couple of brads and a piece of canvas that I inked behind the photo.

Next up is my next to the youngest GD, who is nothing less than a fashionista or diva.  She has to be stylish and up-to-date on the latest fashion news.

She has both beauty and brains but without the reports from her school it is really hard to believe that she is a 4.0+ student (all she talks about is clothes and going to the mall).

Aside from fashion, she loves the arts to include drama, theater and art and her sport of choice is tennis (because she likes the outfits). Perhaps this adds up to being a fashion designer or maybe she'll open her own art studio.

This page was made using Websters DP, Recollections flowers and bling and a border that I have no clue where I got it nor how long I've had it.  The pleated ribbon I picked up at Joanne's Crafts about a year or so ago.  I punched out the little flags and found some letters in my stash to spell out her name.

Before I call it a night I would like to say thanks to all my followers both new and old.  I appreciate you guys and hope you will continue to visit and play with us by sharing your talent. Additionally, I would like to ask that you visit our sponsors and see what they have to offer for all your crafting supplies and stamps.

We've selected our first monthly winner and if you weren't selected you still have a chance of winning on Feb 28th, and if you haven't entered yet, there's still time to play with us.  I appreciate your comments and your emails so keep'em coming.

That's it folks...have a blessed day or night depending on where you are.

Sending Hugs

Place In Time

Lately, the weather here in Texas has been on a roller-coaster with no signs of normalcy on the radar.  Two days ago the temperature was 70% then today it was below 32% and will stay the same through Friday, and then an expected jump again on Saturday.  We're lucky if we can go a week without the sniffles or a cold.

This year I decided to make a monthly calendar and I would track birthdays and anniversaries on it.  I've gotten two months completed and I want to share with you those months.  I didn't fill out the dates, so this calendar will be usable for me year after year until I tire of it or do another one.

First up is JANUARY.  This is my favorite month because it starts a new year with new possibilities and more importantly it's my birthday month.

Its nothing fancy but it was fun to create and I still have room to add birthdays as I discover them but for now just the two have been recorded.  I created the little journal area using brads and twine.  Did just a little fussy cutting and created a pocket to add a couple of tags.

So moving on to FEBRUARY! This is the month of romance, and it is also referred to as Black History Month.

I did add just a little bit more embellishments and it turned out really nice.
I loved the reds and the red poppies were perfect for this layout.  Two family members have birthdays in this month and I won't forget them now.

Well that's all I have to share about my yearly calendar.  Don't forget my February challenge is open and we will be drawing our first winner next week.  Neat prize for Valentine's Day.

Supplies:
Graphic 45:  12x12 Easel Pad, A Place in Time Paper Collection
Wild Orchid: Roses and Poppies
Lace from Crafty Scrapper our local crafts store (store is online)
A Place in Time Chipboard Sheets 1 and 2, Tags and Pockets
