Levels of Friendships

Hello my fellow crafters.  I thought  I would take some time to chat about friendships.  You know there are different levels of friendships and they come at different times in your life and they each serve a purpose.  At least that is my opinion of friendships.

I am one of those individuals that have lots of acquaintances, which are your first level friendships.  You know the ones; your co-workers that you hang out with at the office or sit with at the office get together and even the folks you see at church on Sunday or in the hair salon on Saturday.  This level of friends has a really large membership.

Then we move up to the folks you know from being introduced by your closer friends.  These are your second-level friends.  Friends that if you spotted in the mall you might catch-up and chat with or even decide to go to the Food Court for gossip catch-up time.  These friends may have been to your home or you might have visited them once or twice but its not something habitual or anything.  You don't exchange gifts on Christmas and you'll most likely never share a vacation, but they are friends nonetheless. This group has a pretty big membership.

The next two level of friendships are the ones where we remember birthdays, go to concerts with and invite to all the parties.  These are the friends who might even get a phone call from time to time.  Yep, these are your high level friends.

And one of my high level friends had a birthday, and will soon be getting one of these cards which is already in the mail.

Both cards were made using items already in my stash. The only thing new was the technique I used to ink up the embossing folder with some distress ink and then run it through the Big Shot.  Love how they turned out!

But there is yet another level.  The "TOP LEVEL" is is the final level of friendship.  There aren't very many members in this level. Maybe one or two are in this group.  These are the friends that you would ride with on a dangerous joy ride and laugh about it later.  These are the friends that would search every store in the Metroplex for that one newspaper you were dying to get your hands on and then proceed to awaken you at 4 am without fear to share this great treasure they found for you.

These are the one or two friends that even though you're angry with them and don't plan on speaking to them anytime soon, you don't forget its your turn to get the donuts and they remember to put the coffee on because they know you're on your way over for breakfast.  These folks are the ones that earn the title BEST FRIEND.  The highest level of friendship and therefore has the smallest number of members.

At this level you share car keys, house codes and sometimes if you're sick you trust them with your debit card.  These friends feed your dog when you're out of town or on vacation.  These are the friends that you take shopping to cheer them up or you ask them to bake you your favorite cake and they complain but they manage to bake the cake anyway and you end up giving them a card like this one.

I thought about the many folks that have been in my life and those that are still part of my life and everything I have learned from each of them regardless to how long they were in my life or at what level.  I do believe that each of them had a purpose and there was a learning opportunity to me so to all my friends at whatever level I say "thank you for being there" and I hope I received whatever message you were directed to provide me.

So that's my thoughts for today...

I plan to enter the following challenges:

Can I please be one of your High level friends? These cards are beautiful and I had never heard of inking the inside of the embossing folder then running it through. This is a fantastic idea and you have given me so many ideas today! These are absolutely gorgeous and unique. I hope you take it as a compliment if I try this technique. Thanks for joining us at Crafty Sentiments this week for our "Anything Goes" challenge! Hugs, Gail L, aka Lacey Lassy
