Another Month Passes

Wow! Another month has passed us by and before you know it we'll be celebrating Christmas and the onset of a New Year.  The air is so cool and crisp and I find it absolutely delightful. I can smell the freshness of the air and for the Dallas/Forth Worth area that is a miracle within itself. 

I've already started my Christmas shopping and I think I am going to be just in time with the gifts for the little ones and the gift cards for the older ones. As for Thanksgiving, I think I'll settle in for a good meal, you know the traditional turkey, stuffing, yams, macaroni, pies and such and the best of all family and friends.  I just love this time of the year...it seems to bring out the true meaning of life and joy.

Christmas Is Coming

The weather has changed to cool mornings and comfortable evenings, a sign that the holidays are close upon us and soon Jack Frost will visit making farmers hustle to harvest their crop and prepare it for the market.  I do love this time of year, at least until the temperatures drop below freezing then I have very different thoughts about it all.

This year I thought I would get a head start on my Christmas cards and I have a couple to share with you.  One was inspired by Debbie and the other is a card I cased from Lisa Valentine.  Both cards were fun to make although it took longer than I had anticipated to create then.  The time was worth it though, at least I think it was.

Fight Like A Girl

As I stated in my earlier post, October is a month with a lot going on not to have one holiday that is non-working.  At least the kids get a day free of school on Columbus Day, but not us.

Anyway I've posted my cards that represent Halloween and I don't have any for Columbus Day but I did think it was important to remind women everywhere of Breast Cancer Awareness month so I decided a card made with PINK would be a great representation.

To all the women that is battling or have battled against Breast Cancer, I salute you and say continue to Fight Like A Girl and for the rest of the women that have not yet fought this battle, let each of us step up to the base and help these women bat a home-run in their fight.

Search for your charity and donate in honor of a friend or family member.  At any rate make a donation to a good cause.

October Activities

Hello my crafting buddies.  Has anyone noticed that October doesn't have a holiday that allows us working folks to stay home?  I thought about that and thought about all the activity that happens during this month, I mean isn't Columbus Day in this month?....my point....this is the month when the trees blankets the earth with an array of warm vibrant colors, it is the month when every woman focuses on the color pink in the fight against breast cancer, and then there's the parade of costumes on Halloween night.  It is my opinion that we should have at least one day as a non-working holiday.  

Oh well, trick or treat is the phrase used on Halloween night to get what you want.  Halloween, a very misunderstood holiday.  It is so often viewed as a celebration of demons, but in reality the origin is quite different.  Its not about demons but about ghosts of folks looking for the harvest of food.  I looked it up and here is a summary of what I found about Halloween.

Halloween is a time of celebration and superstition. It originated with

the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. People would light bonfires

and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. In the eighth century, 

Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all 

saints and martyrs through the wear of costumes similar 

to the Samhain tradition; This was known as "All Saints’ Day", and the 

evening before was known as All Hallows’ Eve and later Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a secular, community-based event 

characterized by child-friendly activities such as trick-or-treating.

With so much going on in the month of October I thought I needed to create a few cards around these activities. I figured I would start with Halloween, and share with you a couple of cute Halloween cards that hopefully won't scare you but rather make you smile.
