A Friend Is

Hello all.  Allow me to share my newest image from Saturated Canary, "Sara". If you know Krista the artist behind these adorable digi images you already know how cute they are and how much fun they are to color.

I recently purchased a few of her new rubber stamps and saw one I wanted but couldn't quite make it fit my budget so I thought I would check to see if by chance it could be purchased as a digital stamp.  While searching for this one particular stamp I came across "Sara", so needless to say I forgot about the other one and moved forward with this one.

I printed her out on some Neenah paper and proceeded to attempt a background using my new airbrush system (which was a really stupid thing to do) of only two weeks.  So as far as my stupidity goes, it showed up in the mess I made!  I tell you the background was horrible and to my dismay "Sara" was caught up in the middle of it all.

I just had to save Sara so I carefully cut her out and held on to her until I could find her a home.  Gently and patiently I colored her dress and shoes and added her skin tone to go perfectly with her big eyes and then lastly I began to add the strokes to her hair.  I love how her hair turned out, and it is indeed a miracle.

I say this because all I remember is that I was using my browns and somehow picked up a yellow and before I noticed it I had added a big stroke of yellow to her beautiful honey colored hair.  It was time for emergency action and I mean there was no time to waste...we could not let that ink soak in and dry.  I had to take corrective action...you know the action I am referring to...the action where your lips are so tight you think you're going to bite your bottom lip off and you can hear the quiet praying and sighing escaping through, as mentally you're hoping against all odds when suddenly you began to see something and you can tell that slowly the corners of your lips are turning upward, converting that sad sour-puss frown to a giddy happy smile because you fixed it and it is perfect (at least at that moment it is).  Well that is what happened to me and I was thrilled ...here check it out!

You would have appreciated the turnout better had you seen the mess I was working with...lol

ah yes, it also happened to me once, while coloring the hair i picked a pink marker without noticing, funnily enough, when u make that kind of mistakes and u correct it, the hair generally looks better than usual! maybe because of the corrective strokes we add, giving the hair a more realistic tone with all the strokes. i use a blender too and that helps a lot too!
so all that to say that your coloring is fantastic, very precise and beautiful, the card is strikingly sweet, such a great job!!
thank you so much for sharing at love to scrap! challenge blog!
