Fall and Halloween Challenges

Hey Y'all its Fall!  Are you laughing yet, no, well just keep reading.  After my last post...remember, I made it home from work, created a card and called it a night..right???  Well just before I went to bed the lights kept flickering on and off until finally it stopped so I thought it was over and that most likely the flickering had something to do with the many accidents we had that morning. Anyway I decided to set my dishwasher to do its magic while I slept and then I could put up clean dishes in the morning,..but right in the middle of shutting the door so the cycle program would set the lights went off again...dangnabit! I decided to just push the door ever so gently closed but not click it and that way the cycle wouldn't engage and I could finish in the morning.  Everything was ready so what the heck?  With my plan in place off to bed I went.

Throughout the night I kept hearing the sound of rain or at least I thought it rain because we did have a 40% chance of getting rain, but I soon discovered that in reality the electricity had returned at some point while I slept and the program cycle for my dishwasher had kicked in and yep, there it was in my kitchen...the beginning of the Atlantic Ocean!  There was water everywhere!  I could hear the splish spash from my Yorkie's feet and I thought to myself, she's gonna need a bath.  At first I thought to curse my bad luck but instead, I took a deep breath, called the devil a liar (wonder if he heard me), then notified my boss of the situation and got the OK to work from home. I shut down the dishwasher and put in the dreaded call to Sears because since the door wasn't shut I thought the darn thing had a programming problem or had sprung a leak. He arrived and explained to me that although I had not clicked the door when I pushed it ever so gently closed, I had still closed it enough to engage the program cycle switch so when my electricity returned the dishwasher did what I had programmed it to do. At least it wasn't broke right???, couldn't say the same about me.  The service guy charged me and left me standing in a puddle of water, pissed off, and broke.

My day ended with me working from home and cleaning a puddle of water.  It was okay though.  I'd work for 4 hours and then do housework for 2 hours and then back to work for a couple of hours and then craft for a bit and then finally I finished my work and called it a day.

Now for what I have to share is a sneak peek at a card I created as a DT for Jackson's Digital Expressions challenge blog coming up on Tuesday, October 9th. It's a sketch challenge with the theme "Halloween" so make sure you mark your calendars and join in on the challenge.

Before I share my card with you I thought I would show you the sketch we were to use for our creation.

I don't know about you, but for me this sketch appeared a bit spooky to me and it screams Halloween.
And now here is my card that is based on the sketch.
After creating the design I cut out my paper pieces and inked the edges using "Black Soot" distress inks. The rest of the card was created using the following elements:
CS: Bazzill
DP: Authentique
Image: Bugaboo Digital Images (I cut out and used distressed inks to give it that orangey yellow look and then went over the edges with Black Soot).  The fence is a Martha Stewart border punch and the lamp posts were stamped (6 times) and embossed using UTEE and then cut out and used as a chipboard piece. The sentiment is a 3D sticker from K&Company.
This is the inside of my card. Here I used the leftover piece of the fence and the extra lamp post to keep the look and feel from the front.  I also created a soft moon as the space for a personal message using a Spellbinders Circle die. I really like how it all turned out and I hope you do as well.
