Purple Scraps

Hi everyone, this is Lesia "Mema" coming to you full of joy and energy.  This weekend was as perfect as perfect could ever be as far as temperature goes.  The cooler weather came just before my AC Unit decided to act funky with me.  A new compressor, what?  That was me when the AC guy took a look at it...well I'm going for a second opinion and a great big prayer.  Anyway I think perhaps it just needed a nap so I turned it off, opened my doors and turned on all my ceiling fans for a while to stay cool and it the fresh air with the fans circulating everything worked pretty good for me, for a few hours at least.

I did a few chores and then off to my craftroom I went praying the whole time because my craftroom is usually very hot with the extra lighting I use in there.  Trust me when I tell you that my craftroom is brighter than an operating room at the hospital so heat is generated in multiple kilowatts.  I knew that I was going to need more than just a ceiling fan for this room so before I moved in the old stand-by fan, I decided to try the AC one more time and Whoopee the sucker turned on full blast.  Prayers work regardless to how big or small..."don't tell God how big your problems are, tell your problems how big your God is"...think I'll use that phrase on a card one day.

Another cool thing, well in some ways its cool..my son had his 41st birthday and I was the first one to wish him Happy Birthday.  I woke him up at 12:05 a.m. so I could be first.  The only thing about my son being 41, is that it reminds me of just how old I am and my only satisfaction in knowing how old I am getting is knowing that his father is older than me (smiles).

Anyway I tried to re-organize my paper and in doing so, I found a paper pack by K&Company that I had not seen in ages (okay I have a lot of paper) and decided to use it for my next card.  Later while surfing and visiting my favorite sites I visited the sketch team challenges over at the Outlawz  and thought I'd give it a try.  The sketch was very interesting and the DT presented very unique perspectives from which to pull ideas.  Well here is my take with my very own little twist, so you decide...did I keep in line with the sketch?

Card Supplies:
DP: K&Company "PoppySeed"
Spellbinders: Scalloped and Standard Ovals; Fancy Tag and Banners
Ribbon: StampinUp
Ink Media: Copics

Here is the sketch that we had to follow.  I thought it was pretty cool.  I am entering my card in the Wednesday Sketch Challenge at the Outlawz.

After finishing this card I had quite a bit of leftover paper so I decided to make a card I remembered seeing that was created by Jennie Williams, so I decided to try and case her idea from memory.

Using leftover paper allowed me to relax because there wasn't any pressure to get it right the first time.  If I messed up, it was only scrap paper which isn't the same as messing up perfectly good paper if you know what I mean (I have done that).

The card used Martha Stewart punch around the page and Marianne dies. While my card is nowhere close to being as perfect as Jennie's, I didn't feel to bad about the turn out.  I mean I had to add a little bit of me and make a few changes so it would feel right to me....so here you go.

Did you notice that its the same paper as the previous card.  This paper is double-sided so I made the card base using the solid side of the paper.  Doing this helped me decorate the inside and stay consistent with the colors.

I tried to use three different shades of purple (no particular reason) but I think I should have stayed on the blue side of purple and not introduce the pink side.

The punch around the page is "Deco Flowers" and a Marianne die is used on the inside.  I also used a Marianne corner die for the flourishes and added a Recollections flower in the center.  Next I punched out a circle to add my sentiment and as a last thought added a few pearls to finish the card (it didn't really need the pearls though).

Notice how using the double-sided paper decorated the inside for me...easy peasey decorating now.  Using the opposite side of the paper I punched around the edge and simply added it to the inside.

So y'all what do you think.  Thanks for stopping by and while you're here visit a spell, I'm always glad when visitors come by.

These are fabulous. It is so interesting how you get such varied looks even though you used the same paper on each - they are lovely!

Two fabulous cards, love your take on the sketch in the first one and your use of the double sided paper in the second works really well with this pretty card.
