Finally Made It Back

Whew! I didn't think I would ever get back to my craft-room but whola here I am with a couple of cards to share with my crafty friends. Yeah I know both Father's Day and most Graduations are long gone but I think its okay to share a couple of cards with you anyway so here goes.

This first card was inspired by a friend and it was my intent to give it to her to give her husband but they left before I could get it finished.  To me it kinda looks like a Dallas Cowboy Father's Day card and since my friend is married to a former Cowboy I thought it would be nice, but like I said she never got it.  This is because my three youngest grand-kids (3,5,7) had me so busy I had very little time to relax.  Not complaining though.

My second card has a prayer that I found online and just thought it was so sentimental that I decided to go ahead and make it for no one in particular. I'll add it to my store later and maybe someone will want it next year for Father's Day although it could work as a "Just Because" card as well.

Well folks that's all I have for today.  Sorry for the short post but rest is a necessity these days especially with the air being so thick and actually I can feel the pollution as I breathe it.  It is so humid and hot that this is the first year out of 8 or 9 that I have not attended the Great American Scrapbook Convention (GASC). What is the world coming to, when a person misses the GASC, it's a major event worth blogging about.

I'll be back in a week or two with a giveaway.  Over the past two or three weeks I have found some really great finds at really reasonable prices that allow me to share with my lovely followers. I have to get the list together and make sure I have packing material so I can be ready to ship when a winner is selected.

No worries I'll keep you posted via my blog.

Thanks for stopping by and visiting with me and if you have time leave a comment.  I do appreciate them and love reading them.

Graduation Time

Hello Everyone! This past weekend was my grand-daughters graduation and birthday and we had a blast.  First of all there were 495 students to take that eventful walk across the stage and since they decided to go in reverse order this year I had to sit for 4 hours to watch my baby go across...the joy and pride I felt made it worth every second (well almost every second).

I didn't craft all weekend but I made up for it with singing, dancing, sleeping and tons of food.  I'll share more pictures on Facebook once I finish going through all 363 and selecting those I think are really cool, but for now I have two to share that I think are very special and ready for a scrapbook somewhere.

First up is my grand-daughter posing after graduation with her mom and dad.  She graduated as a Distinguished Graduate with Honors so proud parents they are. With a daughter that has never been in any trouble, maintained a 3.8 GPA and scored well on the SAT...what more could a parent pray for.

Next we have the family sharing in the celebration preparing for the block party where we anticipate more guests and up to 100 attending students.  Its gonna be a blast!

I'll post more on Facebook, so check them out.  I might even have a few videos to share.

Texas Chaotic Weather

Well folks, you can tell Spring has arrived in Texas! Not only do the temperature change on a daily basis, we experienced a week where temperatures were perfect one day, rainy wet humid and cool the next, which switched into yet another two days of lovely sunshine and outdoor activities that lasted for most of the second day and then the lighting and thunderstorms with flood warnings and all that jazz.  But this only took us through the first four days so for the last three days we saw three tornados that were hidden or wrapped within the shower of rain only showing themselves when the sky lit up from a bolt of lightning, and then the dreaded back to back downpours traveling west to east, with hail falling and traveling east to west....Wow and OMG became the most verbal words in most everyone's vocabulary not to mention a few others.

I found myself trying to decide if I should go to bed since the lights were on and off consistently...finally, I shut everything off turned on battery operated lamps and tried to read a book and listen to my emergency radio all within the comfort of my bathroom (smiles).

But eventually, the weather cleared and the biggest most beautiful rainbow peeked from amongst the clouds reminding me of God's promise so many many years ago.  I was able to clear the debris from my backyard and then settle down in my craft-room. Even with the chaos of the weather I still found peace and comfort within the four walls I call my craft-room. Being there with all my paper, ink and glue I felt safe and at home (smiles).

So now I will share my latest creations with you.  Leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Celebrate Spring Whites

Spring is trying its best to break through! The trees are full of beautiful green leaves and the lawn is definitely announcing the onset of Spring because now it is begging to be cut every week..the joy and pain of Spring.

There has been a lot of Spring weddings and most of them are white, ivory or cream with a touch of color here and there.

A friend of mine challenged me to create a card that would reflect these soft subtle colors and I decided to hang out with a little white on white.  That combination does add a bit of style class and elegance regardless to the theme.

So that is what I have to share with everyone today.

I carried the white theme on to the inside using an embossing folder for dimension and attention.

I created this card using cardstock, embossing folders, a bit of lace and the help of my dies and punches.

I hope everyone, that celebrated the resurrection of Jesus was filled with the spirit and open to the many blessings that commemorates this miraculous event.

As I sat on my patio this Easter Sunday I couldn't help but notice how calm the wind was and how the temperature of the day was cool and crisp; perfect patio weather.  I thought out my design while sipping a cup of coffee and noticing that the trees in my yard were in full bloom, boasting their resurrection of life and my grass seemed to be growing a bit fuller.

This scenery along gave me inspiration to visit my craft room for another round of pure tranquility.  So here I am my friends having completed two cards to share with you.  This simple layout can be converted to celebrate multiple occasions so I can see this being used in several of my next creations.  But today I created two cards to celebrate our Moms.

Both cards were created using the same layout but different paper collections and some minor changes with the embellishments.  Below are both cards.

REMINDER: Mema's Crafts Challenges are now the first Monday of each month, so don't forget to come back next week and join the fun...It's anything goes as long as you use a "Die or Punch" somewhere in your project!

NewsFlash! I was selected as one of Dream Valley's Top 3!!!

YEAH!!!!  Now on to my project for today.

Today I have a really bright and colorful card to share with you. Needless to say that playing on this side of the color wheel doesn't come naturally to me.  I struggle getting the right combination in the right amount when using the lighter colors and I do the same when I use pastels.

Using these colors are definitely outside my comfort zone but I was encouraged (more like pushed) by my family and friends to give it a try.  So I agreed to allow my grand-daughter select the colors for my next card and this is how it turned out.

I'm not that thrilled with it but according to my grand-daughter I did just fine and that's good enough for me, but you can leave me your thoughts...I'd love to read them.

I started out thinking I would make a small A2 card but that quickly changed as I decided that I need to add a bit more flavor and of course I want to try my luck in a few challenges.

I used Designer Paper from My Minds Eye and layered it up to add dimension.  I also used a stamp and die set from Cuttlebug to create the flowers and used pop dots to make it appear to float.

Using a neat technique I learned from YouTube I was able to color the flowers with my copics without damaging the embossing the die created.

The inside is quite simple with a few designer papers adorning it and a blank space for a personal message.  Below is a list of the products I used and the names of a few challenges I'd like to enter.

DP:  My Mind's Eye
CS:  Recollections 100#
Distress Ink
Cuttlebug Vine Die

Hero Arts Stamp
Recollection Pearls
